After 10 years with the House of Balenciaga, designer André Courrèges founded his eponymous design house in 1961.
A few years later, he presented his futuristic haute couture collection. Described as revolutionary by the fashion world with its white skirts, flat boots and silver fabrics, the “Courrèges bomb” was designed for the active woman looking for functional clothing. The flat boots, trapeze miniskirt and vinyl jacket quickly became her signature pieces.
Courrèges’ legacy continues to play an important role in the history of contemporary fashion, and his revolutionary creations remain a source of inspiration for many designers today.
